In this blog, I will be delving into the ins and outs of the changing prison system in the United States. The blog posts will tie into current events and share a new take on prison system policies that you likely have not thought of before. Similar to Vera’s Institute of Justice blog, this blog will touch on issues within the prison system as well as their effect on the country outside the prison walls.
My name is Karli Celestin and I am from Wintersville, Ohio. I am currently a Junior journalism/pre-law major at West Virginia University, so naturally I love to both read and write. I am deeply unsettled by the fact that the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, which has fueled my interest in educating myself about the inner-workings of our prison system.
